Geir Hågen Karlsen

Geir Hågen Karlsen is the Director of Strategic Communication at the Norwegian Defence University College. He is a leading expert on strategic influence operations, strategic communication, information operations, and psychological operations. Karlsen also conducts research, teaching, training and advising the Norwegian military, ministries, government agencies, and NATO. He is a frequent speaker at national and international fora, and a much used sources for the media.

Karlsen has substantial political experience as a Deputy Member of Parliament between 2013-2021. He is a senior staff officer at Armed Forces Crisis Staff, with the rank of Lieutenant colonel. He has a master’s degree in PR-management and strategic communication from the Norwegian Business School, a Cand. Mag. in political science from the University of Oslo, and has studied at the Norwegian Defence Command and Staff College.
